Model Significance
The Alpinestars AL-Mega DX stands out as one of the most radical and extreme frame designs in mountain biking history. The defining hallmark of the "Mega" series is the elevated chainstay configuration, engineered to achieve a shorter wheelbase and completely eliminate chain suck. The DX tier represented a high-performance, mid-to-upper-range specification equipped with the Shimano Deore DX component group. The 1990 model year is defined by its distinctive combination of vibrant neon accents and a brushed aluminum frame finish.
Decal Set Features
The visual design features multi-colored abstract artwork background panels designed to complement neon and brushed aluminum surfaces, carrying the bold alpinestars usa and AL-MEGA dx logotypes. The graphic layout incorporates period-correct frame typography, such as the MNT. XROSS model callouts, the TWENTY ONE SPEED drivetrain labels, and specific material callouts (CR-MO Blades, Aluminum Stays, Aluminum Mega Tubing). The overall composition is styled after the factory themes of the 1990 frameset.
