The 1991 Cro-Mega LX stands out as a defining steel-framed model within Alpinestars' lineup, merging elevated chainstay (ECS) geometry with EOSystem (Elevated Over-size System) technology. Constructed from Tange Double Butted Cro-Moly steel tubing, the chassis features an ultra-short 15.9-inch chainstay configuration achieved via a distinct curved seat tube. This architecture was engineered to maximize climbing traction and tire mud clearance, producing one of the most recognizable mountain bike silhouettes of the era. The platform came equipped with a rigid Megadrive fork and investment-cast rear dropouts.
