The Specialized Allez Epic represented the manufacturer's pioneering carbon fiber technology in the road racing market throughout the 1988 and 1989 model years. The chassis was engineered using oversized, uni-directional carbon fiber main tubes bonded with a proprietary thermoset epoxy resin into custom-designed aluminum lugs. This construction delivered a significant weight advantage over contemporary steel frames while maintaining exceptional stiffness and vibration dampening. The high-performance platform was offered with premium period component groups, including the Shimano 600 Ultegra and flagship Dura-Ace drivetrains.

The visual package is fully compatible with the natural carbon framesets from the 1988–1989 production years. The core design features high-contrast neon yellow typography paired with a deep, dark blue drop-shadow contour. The comprehensive kit incorporates the dynamic, elongated ALLEZ downtube logotypes, the classic low-italic SPECIALIZED brand markings, and the sharp EPIC top tube model scripts. The transfer set includes the dual "S" crest design configured for the seat tube along with the vertical C.A.D. CARBON FIBER TAIWAN text, paired with the standalone neon yellow "S" crest engineered for the head tube.
